The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court announced Wednesday it has waived public transportation fares for Tuesday’s general election to encourage residents to vote on Election Day.
“Fort Bend County is so proud to announce that Fort Bend Public Transportation fares will be waived for Election Day. Every vote counts in our democracy, and we are happy to do our part in ensuring all voters have adequate transportation to the polls” Fort Bend County Judge KP George said in a statement.
Residents are strongly encouraged to make their on-demand bus reservations at least 24 hours in advance. To make a reservation, residents should call (281) 633-7433 no later than 5 p.m. Monday to secure their ride to the polls, and provide their first and last name, a contact number, the destination address, and a pickup time.
Persons with disabilities can request door-to-door service. For more information, residents can visit the Public Transportation page of the county’s website.
