Clyde Boyd "Chic" Smith of
Missouri City, TX passed away at home on Sept. 21, 2000, with most of
his family by his side after battling cancer for a year. Born in
Hurricane Hill (near Ripley), TN to Roy and Era Smith on Nov. 2, 1926.
Chic was an avid golfer at Quail Valley Country Club, enjoyed
traveling and playing different golf courses, and was a founding
partner of Westfield Engineering. While working, he traveled
extensively throughout the United States, South Africa, Jamaica and
other parts of the world starting up chemical process plants and
providing training for the plants' managers and operators.
Predeceased by his first wife, Tommie Eaton Smith; survived by
wife, Mary Ruth (Barclay) Smith; two sons, William Smith and wife,
Pat, of Humble and Burnell Smith and wife, Jeanne, of Eagle River, AK;
two grandsons, Dylan and Cory Smith, brother Roy Smith of West
Memphis, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be at 10 A.M., Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at
First United Methodist Church, Missouri City, TX. Burial and graveside
service will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at the Texas
Medical Center, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030 or to the
charity of your choice.
