Russell Gardner Sharp, age 66, died at his
home in Sugar Land on Saturday, July 22, 2000, following a 20 year
illness with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Cameron, TX on December 8,
1933, he moved to the Richmond-Rosenberg area in Fort Bend County at
an early age. He was a graduate of Lamar Consolidated High in
Rosenberg in 1951 and the University of Texas in 1955. He served in
the Air Force as a First Lieutenant. He was a believer in Jesus Christ
and attended Berachah Church in Houston for many years. During the
1960's he was a Sales Representative for Baxter Laboratories then
Travenol Laboratories. He was a co-founder of Texas Medical Products
in 1973, specializing in Open Heart Surgery Equipment. He was also a
co-founder of Professional Compounding Centers of America. He was
active in Civic and Community activities in Sugar Land for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Anderson Sharp, son
Michael and wife Emma of Sugar Land; son Bradley and wife Bridget of
San Antonio; daughter Tracey Sharp of Katy; three grandchildren Karen,
Carol and James Sharp of Sugar Land. Brothers Gerald Sharp of
Rosenberg and Dorman Sharp of Richland, Oregon and numerous other
relatives and many friends.
Visitation with the family was held at Earthman Southwest Chapel at
12555 S. Kirkwood, Stafford, TX 77477 at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday,
July 24, 2000. Services were held on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at 10 a.m.
at Earthman Southwest Chapel with interment following at Morton
Cemetery in Richmond. Pallbearers were Dick Rathgeber, Ross Werlla,
Charles Werlla, Jack Richardson, Charles Avery and Dean King. In lieu
of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice at the Medical
Center, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.
