James D. Kallina, age 68 of Sugar Land,
passed away July 19, 2000. He was born July 16, 1932 in Garwood, TX to
James S. and Augusta Braden Kallina. J received his Bachelor of
Science in Geology from the University of Texas in Austin. He was a
member of the Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity. J was a Frogman
in the Navy and was the executive officer of an L.S.T. J was active in
the Navy from 1953-1957. He left the Navy as a lieutenant. He was a
Geophysicist for 25 years with Petty Geophysical Engineering Co. In
1973 he formed Geophysical Services/Omega. In 1976 he established JDK
INCORPORATED. J was a member of AAPG, SEG, and founding member of IAGC,
Houston Geophysical Society, Sugar Creek Country Club and St. Theresa
Catholic. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter and enjoyed
spending time on his deer lease.
Preceded in death by his sister, Augusta K. Richter. He is survived
by his wife of 46 years, Doris; daughter, Teresa Ann Kallina of
Austin; sons, Stephen D. Kallina and wife Libby; and Michael J.
Kallina; grandchildren, Steven, Shaun, Seth, J. Nicole, Marci and
husband Ricky John Nentwig; sisters; Jim Ella Klemcke and Neva Lou
Hubenak; special family members, Richard, Charlotte and Christopher
Bolls, Taylor and Hunter Kraft, and Kristin Nentwig; and numerous
nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of the Resurrection was held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 22,
2000 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 115 7th Street, Sugar Land with
the Rev. Robert J. Matzinger, celebrant. Interment was private.
Serving as pallbearers in spirit were Donald Klemcke, Harold Klemcke,
Mark Hubenak, Walter Braden, and Anthony Kallina. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were the staff of J D K INCORPORATED and the Sugar Creek
Men's Golf Association. In lieu of flowers the family requests that
memorial contributions be made to the Volunteer Council of Austin
State School, 2203 West 35th St., Austin, TX 78703.
