Gary Michael "Mike" Gibson, 51, died
on Sunday, May 12, 2002, at home, in Missouri City, surrounded by
the love of his wife and friends, after a brief but valiant battle
with cancer. He made his final pass with the win light coming on
one more time.
He was born in Beaumont, raised in Silsbee and
attended Lamar University in Beaumont. Moving to Missouri City in
1980, he was Operations Manager for Coors Central and South until
1983. He was co-owner of Barco Transportation from 1983 to 1987
and owner of The Bartran Corporation from 1987 to 1997. Currently,
he was on contract with Trimac Transportation.
Mike is survived by his wife of 24 years,
Barbara. She was the center of his universe. Words can never
describe the love he had for her.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lorena and
Earl "Buck" Gibson, at an early age but lovingly
nurtured by his aunt and uncle, Jeanette and Eddie Van Winkle of
Silsbee. They survive him as does his aunt Evalina Raggio, cousins
Eddie Van and Keith Van Winkle, all of Silsbee, and cousins Nora
Welch and Nancy Van Winkle of Beaumont.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of
Mike Gibson will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at
Southminster Presbyterian Church, 2310 Brightwater Drive, Missouri
City, 77459, with Reverend Steven Thorney officiating. The
comfort, support and love of Rev. Thorney was deeply appreciated
by Mike and Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests
contributions be made to the church for a future memorial garden.
