CWO2 Vernon M. Floyd, (USN Ret.) passed
away on November 12, 2000 in Missouri City, TX. Vernon was born to
Freida and Jerry Floyd October 6th, 1918 in Tchula, MS.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 58 years Juanita, daughters,
Louise, Pixie, Phyllis, April, and son Vernon II. There are 10
grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and brother J.V. Teague of
Vicksburg, MS.
He was a decorated combat veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict,
retiring in 1969 with 30 years honorable service. He retired from TDCJ
in 1979 with 20 years service.
Vernon was a 25-year member of the Sugar Land, Texas Lions Club
with perfect attendance and an active supportive member of the 1st UMC
of Missouri City.
Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX.
Donations made in Vernon’s name may be sent to the American Heart
Association or the Good Samaritan Fund of the 1st UMC of Missouri
City.
