Donald W. "Chip" Bankston, Jr. Loses Battle with Cancer

Donald W. "Chip" Bankston, Jr., 26, passed October 8, 2000, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents Donald W. Bankston, Sr., and Susan DeQuesnay Bankston of Richmond, two adoring brothers, Sgt Bryan William Bankston and Mark DeQuesnay Bankston, grandmothers Jean DuQuesnay and Vivian Bankston of Dallas, aunts and uncles Mark and Kathy DuQuesnay and Buddy and Judith Bankston, cousins Jennifer and Allison Bankston Lay, Jill and Paula DuQuesnay, Paul and Elizabeth Breaux, Rose DuQuesnay, and numerous close friends in Richmond, Alpine, and Portland, Oregon.
A Memorial Tribute to Chip is planned for Wednesday, October 11, at Garmany-Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth St., Rosenberg, at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors there from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Chip attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio as well as Sul Ross State in Alpine. In his brief years with us, Chip had an extraordinarily active life. He found success and enjoyment whether waiting tables or working for the president. Sometimes shy, sometimes bold, always witty, and never dull, Chip was an inspiration to all who met him.

In lieu of flowers, Chip requests that your remembrances be sent to Amnesty International USA, 322 8th Ave., 10th Floor, New York, NY 1001, or your local chapter of the American Cancer Society. He also requests that we all live by these simple words: If you want peace, work for justice.
