WILLIAM WAYNE WETTMAN

WILLIAM WAYNE WETTMAN, 81, passed away on November 9, 2004. The "Silver Fox" is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Betty; his three sons, Bruce, Greg and Lou; his grandchildren, Brittany, Jakob, Tia and Reed; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his big sister, Martha Burwell. He set an example of eternal unconditional love for his family and friends.

He was a highly decorated Army Ranger and WWII veteran of many campaigns, including the initial D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from the war, he became a successful business man as a Certified Life Underwriter and licensed securities broker. He was always active in his community and church, serving as a leader and inspiration to all that knew him. Whether at Pebble Beach or Quail Valley Country Club, Dad cherished his golf and never allowed his boys to beat him. Dad's love for God, his family, his country, and the underdog will always be remembered, including his tireless work for the Salvation Army, the Shriners, the Elks, the Champaign, Illinois Chamber of Commerce and numerous other organizations.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, November 15, 2004, at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 (281-447-8686).
