WILLIAM
WAYNE WETTMAN, 81, passed away on November 9, 2004. The
"Silver Fox" is survived by his high school sweetheart and
wife of 58 years, Betty; his three sons, Bruce, Greg and
Lou; his grandchildren, Brittany, Jakob, Tia and Reed; and
many other loving family members and friends. He was
preceded in death by his big sister, Martha Burwell. He set
an example of eternal unconditional love for his family and
friends.
He was a highly decorated Army Ranger and
WWII veteran of many campaigns, including the initial D-Day
invasion of Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. After
returning from the war, he became a successful business man
as a Certified Life Underwriter and licensed securities
broker. He was always active in his community and church,
serving as a leader and inspiration to all that knew him.
Whether at Pebble Beach or Quail Valley Country Club, Dad
cherished his golf and never allowed his boys to beat him.
Dad's love for God, his family, his country, and the
underdog will always be remembered, including his tireless
work for the Salvation Army, the Shriners, the Elks, the
Champaign, Illinois Chamber of Commerce and numerous other
organizations.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m.,
on Monday, November 15, 2004, at the Houston National
Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas
77038 (281-447-8686).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be
sent to the Veterans Administration, Houston, Texas.
