Cheryl
Roesle Welsh, age 52, passed away Saturday, August
21, 2004 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born October 11, 1951
in Galveston, Texas to Arthur and LaVerne Schulz Kalbow.
Cheryl grew up in LaMarque, Texas, graduating from LaMarque
High School in 1970. Softball was her passion throughout her
years in LaMarque. She attended the University of Texas in
Austin and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. Degree in
Secondary Education in 1973. Cheryl was a longtime resident
of Sugar Land.
She taught high school in Fort Bend ISD for seven years and
was the owner of Fort Bend Driving School, Inc. for nineteen
years. Cheryl loved her family, singing and playing the
piano, participating in and watching sports, and
volunteering in the community. She continued her passion of
softball by playing with the Houston Stars at the national
level for many years.
Cheryl was an active member of
Southminster Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the
chancel choir. She was also an active volunteer in the Fort
Bend community, particularly in the Exchange Club of Sugar
Land where she was a past president, the Fort Bend
Partnership for Youth, and the Fort Bend Chamber of
Commerce. Cheryl loved volunteering to promote her passions
of children, patriotism, and her community.
She was preceded in death by her father,
Arthur Kalbow. Survivors include her loving husband, Patrick
Alan Welsh; children, Chad Paul Roesle and his wife Julie of
Austin, TX, and Amber Roesle Weaver and her husband Richard
of San Antonio, TX; mother, LaVerne Schulz Kalbow of
LaGrange, TX; step-children, Jason Welsh and his wife
Natalie of Houston, and Courtney Welsh of Houston; sister,
Linda Roesle and her husband Ken of Austin, TX; and niece,
Jennifer Elliott and her husband Tommy of Austin, TX.
Friends were invited to visitation with
the family from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, August 24, 2004,
at Earthman Southwest Chapel, 12555 South Kirkwood,
Stafford. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday,
August 25, 2004, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 4200
Cartwright Road, Missouri City, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald
B.Hurst, officiating. Interment followed at Morton Cemetery
in Richmond, TX. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of
Cheryl may be given to the Family YMCA of Fort Bend for the
Memorial Prayer Garden, 4433 Cartwright Road, Missouri City,
TX 77459 or to the Music Ministry of Southminster
Presbyterian Church, 4200 Cartwright Road, Missouri City, TX
77459.
