Funeral services for Roy D. Tate, 50, of Damon, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 15, 2004 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas.

Roy was born June 28, 1954 in McComb, Mississippi to Dr. Darrell Tate and Jeannine Hinton Tate. He passed away September 13, 2004 in Houston, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. Roy was a member of the Pecan Bend Church in Damon and was a Praise and Worship Leader for many churches. He wrote his own music and sang his own songs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Teryn; son, Mark Thompson Tate and his wife, Kelly; daughters, Ashley D'Ann Tate and fiancˇ, Carey Stuart Kesner, Heather LeAnn Tate-Knapp and husband, Kevin Bensen Knapp; grandsons, Dylan Tate, Derek Tate; parents, Dr. Darrell and Jeannine Tate; brothers, Kim Hinton Tate and his wife, Helene, Mark T. Tate and his wife, Jennifer, Ralph William Tate and his wife, Cheryl. Also, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Davis-Greenlawn Home in Rosenberg, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Mark Thompson Tate, Mark T. Tate, Ralph W. Tate, Kim H. Tate, Kevin B. Knapp and Carey S. Kesner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Roy's name to Gulf Coast Barrel Racing Association C/O Cyndi Hogg, 3734 County Road 541, Alvin, Texas 77511.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, Texas 77471, phone 281-341-8800.
