Long
John Wade (Carl Wehde) who became a radio legend as an
original Boss Jock at Famous 56 WFIL in Philadelphia and as
the only DJ to accompany the Beatles on their entire first
US tour in l964, has died of heart failure on May 15 at his
retirement home on Cape Cod at age 66.
Long John Wade is survived by his twin
daughters Jennifer Wehde Luney of Frisco, TX – spouse Brian
and Stephanie Wehde Bass of Sugar Land, TX- spouse: Trey;
his brother Don Wade and wife Roma, co-hosts of the morning
show on WLS Talk Radio, Chicago; and his youngest brother
Thomas Wehde of Tulsa, OK and his spouse; 4 grandchildren-
Bailey, Christian (Twins), Tyler & Madison, one nephew and
one niece.
