Evelyn Dillashaw, a native Texan, beloved
wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend
passed away on Sunday, November 19th, 2006. She was born at
the John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas during one of
their severe hurricanes. The family moved to Beaumont
shortly afterward and all of her early years were spent
there. She graduated with honors from Beaumont High School
which was a very new building at that time. She received her
Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas. Her
first job was working for the state of Texas and she was
located in Waco, where she met and married the love of her
life Harry Dillashaw. They moved to Houston and had a
wonderful life together for 63 years. Harry preceded her in
death in January of 2001. Survivors include her son, Harry
Dillashaw Jr.; her daughter, Patsy Jones with husband Cary;
five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her family
and friends will always cherish the memory of her
extraordinary intellect and integrity as well as this
positive outlook on her happy life – to quote W.R. Hearst,
So don’t ask why
We live or die
Or wither or when we go
Or wonder about the mysteries
That only God may know.
