Gloria Maxine Saller Pomeroy born February 1926 to Dave and Theresa Saller in Memphis, TN, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011.
Gloria graduated from Humes High School in Memphis in 1944 and pursued a lifetime of employment as a Secretary. She married her first love, Ben Pomeroy in 1948. Ben passed away in l974. Gloria leaves three children, daughter Sue and husband Karl Hauenstein of Sugar Land, grand children Erik, Kristopher and Emma; son Bill and wife Janice Pomeroy of Baton Rouge, grandson Cory Whitworth, wife Angel and children Lainey, Madison and Dustin; son Harry and wife Janet Pomeroy of Austin, and grandsons Ben, Kel and Joe; sister Bobbie Kaplan of Memphis, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben, and her siblings Roy, Max and Leo Saller, Marian Fleischman, and Agatha Plotkin.
Gloria was very active in the Sugar Land Chapter of AARP #4075 having served as President. Secretary and Chairman of Community Service. Her greatest joy was helping run Bingo games at Sugar Land Health Center once each month. She was also active at the Sugar Land Senior Center where she taught Mah Jongg twice a week.
At the age of 70 she met her second love, Fred Bronstein, and they had six wonderful years together before he passed away.
A Memorial Service will be held at Congregation Beth El, 3900 Wallenberg Lane, Missouri City on Sunday, February 6 at 1:30 P.M. with interment to take place in Memphis.
