Kathryn Wade passed away peacefully at her home on January 13 surrounded by her family . She fought a long illness and will be greatly missed by her family and scores of friends . Kathryn was a highly respected Educator. She received her BA Degree from Baylor University and her MA Degree and Masters of Math from The University of Alabama in 1964 . Her teaching assignments included
The Westminister School in Atlanta, Georgia , the United States Military base in Southern Germany, the University of Reading in Reading, England, The Country Day School in Savannah, Georgia, and most recently Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas . In 2002 she received the prestigious Columbian Award as an Educator. She taught for 44 years and touched many young lives during her career .
Kathryn is survived by sisters, Melinda Wade Hancock of Sugar Land, Texas, Julie Wade Howson of Tucker, Georgia, and James Quitman Wade, Jr. of Carlsbad, California . She leaves behind 6 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great nieces, and 3 great nephews . In lieu of flowers or gift baskets, Kathryn requested memorial donations be made to The American Lung Association, the Kinkaid Scholarship Fund, or to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Chaplewood Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street off Memorial Drive, on Saturday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m.
