William R. (Bill) Cochrane, 62, passed away on July 10, 2010. Bill was born on September 16, 1947 in Hackensack, New Jersey. He grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey. In 1965 Bill and his family moved to Bloomington, Indiana where he earned a B.S. degree from Indiana University in 1969. He then earned a BS degree in Automotive Technology from Western Michigan University Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1970. Bill is a decorated veteran of The Vietnam War where he served as a lieutenant, 1970 – 1971. Bill was employed by Mazda North American Operations from 1974 – 2000. During his career, he held numerous management positions. Bill was most recently employed by The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, 2006 – Present. Throughout his life, Bill embraced the values of honesty, integrity and hard work. Bill was a talented carpenter and wood worker; he enjoyed working on home improvement projects and restoring automobiles. Bill was very caring of other people. No one was a stranger to him. He took a sincere interest in anyone who crossed his path and knew how to make someone laugh.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Cochrane and Elizabeth (Lester) Cochrane and his wife, of 34 years Cheryl S. Cochrane. He is survived by his two daughters: Michelle Cochrane Gadd, and Jessica Cochrane of Sugar Land, Texas, son- in-law Justin Gadd, sisters: Betty Jane Terjesen and Carol Hardy-Schubert, niece, JenniferHardy of Eustis, Florida, and special friend, Gayle Akin.
A memorial service will be held for Bill on Saturday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd, Sugar Land, Texas, 77479. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the First Colony Church of Christ Youth Group or to the Veterans Administration Hospital of Houston.
