Steve and Sheila Watruba announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Dawn Watruba of Humble, Texas to Jason Eric Kirchner of Humble, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Kirchner of Missouri City, Texas. The wedding is planned for Feb. 19 at The Southern Plantation Heaven on Earth in Missouri City.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gayle of Humble and Mr. and Mrs. James Watruba of Bradenton, Fla. A 1996 graduate of Southwest High School, she received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Houston. She is a Pre-K teacher at Splendora Elementary School.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Evelyn McGowan of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kirchner of Pittsburgh. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Operations Management. He is employed as an Inventory Analyst at Applied Biosystems in Houston, Texas.
