Bonnie Brannon Mueller and Baltazar
“Bert” Murillo III were united in marriage on Saturday,
August 19, 2006, at 11:00 in the morning at Saint Anne
Catholic Church on Westheimer in Houston. The wedding was
presided over by the groom’s family member, Bishop Placido
Rodriguez, The Bishop of Lubbock. Scripture readings were
given by Natalia Nicholls. The soloist was Kimberly Mendoza
who began singing Ave Maria as the mothers entered. The
organist was Jim Ross. The couple used the traditional
symbols of the arras, the lazo, and the lighting of the
unity candle after exchanging vows.
The Bride is the daughter of Hugh and
Javonne Gilmore, Michael Mueller, and Kaye Reynolds. The
groom is the son of Bert and Marge Murillo of Tucson,
Arizona. The Bride was escorted by her father, Michael
Mueller, and later toasted by her step-father, Hugh Gilmore.
She wore an ivory strapless gown that was corseted in the
back with a lace panel insert running down the satin train.
The couple was surrounded by four generations of family and
many friends. The wedding began just after a downpour which
seems to be widely recognized as good luck.
The Maid of Honor was Jessica Gilmore,
sister of the Bride. Bridesmaids included Sofia Garcia of
Chicago, MariaElena Murillo of Austin, and Kelley Nedd,
formerly of Sugar Land. They wore coral dresses, each of
their own chosen style, and carried coral and bronze roses
mixed with flowers of purple, the Bride’s favorite color.
There were two flower girls dressed in ivory—Carey Mueller,
the Bride’s niece, and Isabella Nicholls, the groom’s niece.
Jenny Mueller escorted the flower girls. The flowers were a
gift of the bride’s grandmother, Janelle Sloane of
The Best Man was Jason Nicholls,

The reception was held at the Houston
Downtown Aquarium and the cakes were made by Who Made the
Cake. Bonnie surprised Bert, the baseball lover, with a 3-D
catcher’s mitt for a groom’s cake surrounded by
longhorn-enhanced chocolate-covered strawberries. It was the
talk of the reception along with the live fish centerpieces
adorning each table. These were topped off with star-gazer
lilies. Mariachi Internacional de Houston performed as a
gift from “Grandpa” Baltazar Murillo, Sr. of Chicago. Then
the DJ began as the couple danced.
The groom’s family hosted a delicious
Italian dinner on Friday, following the rehearsal, at
Maggiano’s on Post Oak. They also hosted an after-party for
