Kretschmar-Tosto Engagement


Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kretschmar Jr. of Sugar Land, Texas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Diana Kretschmar to Dr. Sebastian Thomas Tosto Jr. Tom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian T. Tosto Sr. of Cromwell, Connecticut.

The bride-elect is a 1984 graduate of Dulles High School in Stafford, Texas and a 1989 graduate of Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She is currently employed by David Powers Homes in Houston, Texas.

The prospective groom is currently a major in the US Army and the Brigade Surgeon for the 505 PIR of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He completed his premed undergraduate work at Yale University in New Haven, CT, earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson in Piscataway, NJ and completed his residency at Penn State, Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Tosto has served his country for the past four years upon electing to close his private practice after the 9/11 attacks and become an airborne paratrooper. Tom has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Bronze Star in Kandahar, and most recently to Operation Katrina in Louisiana.

Holly Marie, Brooke Miranda and Clay Matthew Painter are delighted and honored to welcome this special man into their family as their step-father. The couple plan on a 2006 wedding after Tom has completed his duty with the US Army. They plan to reside in the Houston area where Tom will resume his medical career as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
