
Miss Emily DeWitt and Mr. Joshua Wood
were united in marriage on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at
the First Presbyterian Church in Sugar Land, Texas. The
double ring ceremony was officiated by Mr. Steve Hawley of
Westbury Christian School.
During the ceremony, a scripture was read
by Mr. Donald Wood, father of the groom. Pastor Scott and
Christina Caldwell of The First Assembly of God Church of
Las Cruces sang Broken Road. Mrs. Kelly James, sister of the
bride, lit the candles.
Following the ceremony the bride’s
parents hosted a reception with dinner and dancing at
Ashford Oaks in Houston.
On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal
dinner was hosted by the groom’s father at Pappasito’s in
Sugar Land. A bridal luncheon was hosted at LaMadeleine
Cafe. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Deputy and Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Deputy,
uncles of the bride, hosted a breakfast in the Bluebonnet
Room at the Sugar Land Marriott. Showers were hosted in
Meadows Place by Ms. Leann Looney and Mrs. Sharon Deputy, in
Las Cruces by Miss Elizabeth Looney and Mrs. Sandy DeWitt,
in Sugar Land by Mrs. Michelle Casey and Miss Elizabeth
Looney, and at Westbury Christian School by Mrs. Joy Lacey.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Johnny DeWitt of Point Blank, Texas (formerly of Meadows
Place, Texas), granddaughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Edwin Deputy of Shreveport, Louisiana and granddaughter of
the late Mr. & Mrs. Kyle DeWitt of Pineville, Louisiana. The
groom is the son of Mr. Donald K. Wood of Farmington, New
Mexico, and Ms. Peni Rene of Rangely, Colorado, and the
grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Donald Wood of Aztec, New Mexico.
Given in marriage by her parents and
escorted by her father, the bride wore an Oleg Cassini gown
fashioned of white satin. The strapless princess line with
fitted bodice featured elegant embroidery and pearl beading.
To complement her gown, the bride wore a silk illusion veil
with teardrop crystals and a crystal tiara. She carried a
bouquet of burgundy Gerber daisies and “Black Magic” roses.
Her attendants wore formal, floor length, strapless gowns in
a wine colored satin and carried bouquets of white roses and
daisies.
Mrs. Michelle Bravo Casey was Matron of
Honor and Miss Elizabeth Looney was Maid of Honor. Both are
dear childhood friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss
Kathleen Duncan, Miss Callie Roberson, Mrs. Jennifer Wood,
and Miss Laura Starr. The flower girl was Miss Hadley
Deputy, cousin of the bride. Assisting at the ceremony were
Miss Susanna Schroeder and Miss Brandi Dearing.
Mr. Joel Wood was his brother’s Best Man.
Groomsmen were Mr. Heath Hensley, Mr. Brian Melton, Mr.
Kevin Casey, and Mr. John James. Ushers were Mr. Billy
McGough, and Mr. Eric Massey. The ring bearer was Joseph
Edwin James, nephew of the bride.
The bride graduated from Westbury
Christian School in Houston and will continue her studies at
New Mexico State University in Elementary Education, where
she will graduate in December 2007. Emily has been named a
Crimson Scholar and is a member of the Alpha Chi National
Honor Society, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, and Phi Eta
Sigma Honor Society. Joshua graduated from Piedra Vista High
School in Farmington, New Mexico and attended New Mexico
State University. Joshua is currently on the music staff at
the First Assembly of God Church in Las Cruces. He is
completing his studies for the ministry and working for the
Denver Mattress Company.
After their honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Emily and
Joshua will make their home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
