Miss Ashley Lauren Mills Weds Mr. Cody Jack Gladney

Miss Ashley Lauren Mills and Mr. Cody Jack Gladney were united in marriage on August 28, 2010, at half past six o’clock in the evening at Briscoe Manor in Richmond, Texas. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. Thomas J. Pace of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Scripture was read by Meredith Corte. Music for the ceremony was provided by pianist Beth McConnell and soloists Drew Essen and Alli Wadley. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at Briscoe Manor. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Texas Land and Cattle Restaurant. A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at the Junior League of Houston prior to the wedding and was hosted by the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Charline Russell.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mills of Sugar Land, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Russell of Sugar Land, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Vermon Mills of Baytown, Texas.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gladney of Amarillo, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Faye Gladney and the late Mr. Jack Gladney of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Mr. Gene Smith and the late Mrs. Mary Smith of Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a stunning gown designed by San Patrick of Barcelona, Spain. The strapless gown of sienna organza, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a gently ruched bodice, was intricately adorned with crystal beaded alencon lace appliqués. The mermaid silhouette was highlighted by a cascade of soft organza ruffles which extended into a dramatic tiered chapel train. To complement the gown, the bride chose a cathedral length veil of silk illusion edged in seed pearls and Swarovski crystals designed by Edward Berger. Teal satin heels trimmed with rhinestones completed her attire. The beautiful diamond and pearl necklace worn by the bride was a gift from the groom. She wore her great- great- great grandmother’s brooch and carried her great grandmother’s blue handkerchief. The bride carried a bouquet of stargazers, pink hydrangea and stephanotis with crystals.

Serving the bride as maid of honor was Alli Wadley. Bridesmaids were Lauren Burgess, Lauren Guillen, Shelley Gray, Ashley Meyka, Lauren Caldwell, Lauren Giles, and Candi Mills, sister-in-law of the bride. The bridesmaids wore strapless tea length teal chiffon dresses. Flower girl was Madelyn Batchelor.

Serving the groom as best man was Owen Davis. Groomsmen were Wesley Reinart, Lee Gandy, Shannon Redwine, Tobin Redwine, Matt Anderson, Scott Aldrich and Marcus Becerra. Ushers were Ryan Mills and Brent Mills, both brothers of the bride, Brad Stair, and Michael Carpenter.

Ashley is a 2005 graduate of Clements High School and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Texas A & M University in 2008, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She is currently employed in Irving, Texas.

Cody is a 2002 graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas. He received both his bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2006 and master’s degree in animal breeding and genetics in 2008 from Texas A & M University. He was a member of FarmHouse fraternity. Cody is employed in Garland, Texas.

Following a honeymoon in Costa Rica, Ashley and Cody will reside in Little Elm, Texas, with their cats, Daisy and Dixie.
