It appears parole hearing is soon

I have had literally dozens of calls and e-mails asking for a follow up on the Brandon Elledge story. In case you missed the story, Brandonís confessed killer is up for a parole hearing again this year and Brandonís father, Ben, was asking for community support to keep Timothy Acklen behind bars for yet another year.

Everyone wants to know the outcome of the parole hearing or at least when it is to be held.

No one knows for sure, but Ben Elledge did contact me last week to let me know the outpouring of concern from the community has been wonderful. He also wanted to let me know he had just received a letter from Victimís Services Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice telling him to contact the Parole Board on Feb. 21. That means, according to Ben, that the time for the board to consider Acklen as a possible candidate for parole is sometime in the next few weeks.

So, as soon as I know something our readers will to. There will be a story about the decision of the Parole Board. Letís all hope they decide Acklen should remain behind bars.

I want to thank our readers who have sent e-mails, mailed letters and faxed letters asking the state to keep Acklen behind bars. Ben says not a day goes by that he doesnít see several people out in the community and all mention the article and assure him they have sent a letter or an e-mail to officials.
