You got in.
Those are the sweetest three words to
every senior’s ear. That moment of college acceptance beats
any in the world.
I got the message via email. My hands
were shaking as I clicked the mouse uncontrollably. I was
hyperventilating. My heart felt suppressed. I literally
couldn’t breath.
Then, the first word, that
“congratulations” followed by “welcome to our community”
showed through the screen. And I was suddenly speechless,
thoughtless, numb.
I rushed to tell my parents. We read the
message over and over. Mom was in tears. Dad gave me a hug.
I started to call all my friends.
I was officially accepted into my dream
school, the school that I’ve wanted to go to since junior
high.
That’s why the feeling is so strong, that
I achieved something, that I’ve realized a dream.
My friends and teachers screamed along with me; some even
cried, and at that moment, I felt like I’ve achieved
something big; Columbia University. New York City, here I
come.
