Saturday evening, just before 9 pm, a fight broke out in the Food Court area of First Colony Mall. The initial physical altercation involving about 24 subjects was witnessed by police officers who were working extra security detail at the mall. They jumped in trying to stop the melee but needed more help. Once more officers arrived on the scene, police regained controlled. Order was restored.
During the ensuing investigation, police learned that several of the individuals involved in the melee had possible associations with gangs. According to Sugar Land officials a total of nine male adults were placed into custody for various charges including disorderly conduct (fighting in public), failure to identify, evading detention and a number of outstanding warrants from around the area.
The suspects were transported to Sugar Land jail and booked.
