Michael Eugene Herrmann, 32, of Stafford, was arrested by Sugar Land police and charged with criminal trespass, said police spokesperson Dough Adolph. He said Herrmann’s arrest was the result of an investigation focused on reports of a man who illegally entered at least two condominiums in the Grants Lake community and watched more than one woman sleep while standing in close proximity to their beds. In both cases Herrmann is believed to have gained access to the bedrooms through an unlocked sliding glass door. Adolph said the victims awoke to find a man standing in their bedroom watching them sleep.
Over the past year police have investigated several reports of a man looking through windows in the Grants Lake neighborhood and believe that with this arrest those calls will stop.
This case was solved after a woman watched a recently aired news report of the continuing incidents in Grants Lake. She notified police telling them that, although she had not reported it at the time, a man had illegally entered her patio then stood there and stared at her through the sliding glass door. This victim was able to identify Herrmann in a lineup.
Herrmann was arrested but has since bonded out of jail.
