The time is fast approaching for Sugar Land’s highly anticipated 8th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5-8 p.m. The entire community is invited to join Mayor James Thompson, Santa Claus and a variety of favorite holiday characters to light the 40-foot Christmas tree.
Activities for the entire family are planned throughout the evening to entertain the estimated 10,000 attendees. Children’s activity booths will include: • ornament decorations • a bean bag toss and • “Learn How to Shave Santa’s Beard” (with Popsicle sticks, red balloons and shaving foam).
Be sure not to miss this year’s giant walk-in snow globe where visitors will be able to take pictures in a “winter wonderland.”
Cox Radio’s 107.5 “The Eagle” will also have a booth with exciting give-a-ways and activities for the whole family. Street entertainers such as juggling elves and marionette puppet shows will capture the crowd’s attention as they roam the streets of Town Square.
Festive music will be performed by a variety of groups on the main stage.
A free shuttle service will run from Mercer Stadium, 16403 Lexington Blvd., to Sugar Land Town Square from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Parking will also be available in the Texas and Lone Star garages located in Town Square.
