Two robberies; two shootings hit FBC Sunday

Fort Bend deputies were busy Sunday investigating two separate shootings.

It all began on Sunday about 8:47 in the morning. According to Terriann Carlson, spokesperson for the Sheriff, deputies were called to investigate a shooting in the 9100 block of Havencrest Drive in the Providence subdivision in the Houston section of far northeast Fort Bend County.

Carlson said that a family member discovered Guadalupe Sanchez, 33, suffering from gunshot injuries. Sanchez was taken from the Havencrest home in Providence via air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital where at press time he remained in critical condition. No suspect information was released and no further details were available.

About 10 hours later, Sheriff’s deputies responded to another shooting, this time across Highway 6, a little to the south in the Townewest subdivision.

In this case, Carlson said deputies were sent to investigate a robbery at 6:37 pm. in the 10,000 block of Overview Drive in the Townewest of Fort Bend County.

Carlson said, in this case a 53 year old man who was accompanied by two young children, pulled up to a residence and was accosted by an gun toting man wearing a mask. During what Carlson described as a robbery, the 53 year old victim was shot in front of the children. The suspect was seen by several witnesses running from the scene. This suspect was described as a Black male wearing a Halloween mask and all black clothing.

The unidentified victim was transported to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Although little information about either case has been released and suspect descriptions are sketchy, Sheriff’s detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
