After months of surveillance and undercover operations the narcotics task force moves in and arrests nine people.
The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force, which is comprised of local, state, and federal drug agents, busted a family organization making and distributing narcotics in Rosenberg within eyesight of several schools. According to Sheriff’s spokesperson Terriann Calrson, the organization included a mother, her two sons, their wives, her daughter, and her boyfriend.
Carlson said the investigation took seven months and resulted in 18 grand jury indictments for various drug offenses for the residents at a home in the 4600 block of Airport Road in Rosenberg. She said, “The residence was strategically located on a large piece of wooded property directly across from the George Jr. High School. The property was protected with surveillance cameras that were being monitored from the residence.” An elementary and high school are also in the same vicinity. As a result of the search warrant executed on October 2, 2010, another 31 additional felony charges were filed. Ultimately, a total of 49 charges have been filed with the District Attorney’s office to date.
According to Carlson, during the early morning hours of October 2, 2010 an orchestrated raid was conducted at the home on Airport. She said HPD provided helicopter support to illuminate the residence while SWAT team members from The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and the Rosenberg Police Department executed the search warrant at the residence.
During the search, officers found drug contraband indicating the manufacture, packaging, and distribution of powder cocaine as well as “crack” cocaine. Agents also seized 7 firearms, 3 of which were reported stolen from a burglary in Rosenberg.
Eight children, ranging in age from 4 months old to 9 years old, were found in the residence. They were taken into custody be Child Protective Services (CPS) pending the outcome of the narcotics investigation involving their parents. About 2.5 ounces of cocaine, marijuana, and pharmaceuticals were found inside the residence.
Carlson said, “The state statue defines this amount of cocaine being distributed in a Drug Free Zone to be classified as a first degree felony.”
