The owner of a Rosenberg pawn shop was found inside his business, splayed on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound.
Thursday afternoon, September 14, shortly after noon, Rosenberg police were called to the Cry Baby’s Pawn Shop at 4310 Avenue H regarding a shooting. When police arrived on the scene they found shop owner Lloyd Cryer, 74, on the floor of the store suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to police, before medical personnel arrived, Cryer told them about 9 a.m. a man entered the back door of his store and physically forced him to open the safe. Once the safe was opened, Cryer and the assailant engaged in a physical altercation which resulted in Cryer being shot in the chest.
Cryer described his attacker as a black male between 30-40 years old, stood about 6‘2" weighing about 270 pounds. He said the suspect was clean shaven, bald, and wearing a white T shirt, jeans and white shoes.
Cryer was taken via Lifeflight to the Houston Medical center where at press time he was listed in stable condition. Police are still looking for the suspect.
