STATE WIDE AWARD WINNING COLUMNIST

I am sick and tired of the President and Democrats in congress saying that they will let all but the so-called middle-class tax cuts expire (from the Bush tax cut bill) and “leave in” the middle-class tax cuts.

The liberal Democrats and the national news media have spent the past 10 years telling us, repeatedly, that Bush’s tax cuts were only for the rich.

We all know that the Bush tax cuts lowered all the marginal tax rates for everyone. That means every single U.S. citizen no matter what. If you were in the top bracket, you paid around 39.6%. Bush’s tax cuts dropped the top rate to 35%. You would have thought that the so-called tax cuts for the rich were lowered 15% to 20%. It was only 4.6%!

Bush’s across-the-board tax cuts lowered taxes for everybody that paid federal income taxes. It is pretty simple and easy to understand. You paid income taxes; you got a tax cut.

The top 1% of all wage earners paid 40% of the federal income tax burden, while 33% of wage earners paid zero income taxes. That is amazing! Why would anybody collecting a paycheck not pay one penny of federal income taxes?

For you liberals out there, that means that 33% of wage earners did not get any tax cut since they did not pay any. The national news media has spent the past 10 years repeating the same lie, ‘Bush’s tax cuts for the rich.’

Now all of a sudden they are saying if the federal government keeps the tax cuts for all but the top 2%, then this is a ‘middle-class tax cut.’ What is being cut? According to Democrats the 98 out of 100 are just paying the same!

So when and if the Democrats extend the Bush tax cuts, since they don’t need any Republican votes to pass the bill, the President will be given credit for “The Middle-Class Tax Cuts.” You watch and see if I’m right.

The Democrat controlled House of Representatives can ram any bill through the house they want. If Republicans can keep them from raising income taxes (on any American), the dinosaur news media will repeat the Democrat’s talking points that “Republicans” prevented a middle-class tax cut.”

I repeat, there will not be any taxes cut. If the Bush tax cuts are extended, then we would just be getting the same rates we have today; no cuts!

I’m also sick and tired of the media and other pinheads saying there is a constitutional right to build the terrorist recruiting center (mosque) two blocks from ground zero. They do not. Just ask Stafford Mayor Leonard Scarcella. You cannot build a mosque or a church or a synagogue in the city limits of Stafford.

Believers in any faith can gather in Stafford in a house, building or in a parking lot or tent, but don’t ask for a tax roll exemption.
