Richmond police are investigating the robbery of a Richmond man who was robbed on the porch of his affluent Hillcrest home.
Although driveway robberies and home invasions have almost become the norm, in the actual town of Richmond, not the zip code, it is a rarity; if not the first in a very long time. Especially when the crime occurs on the town’s most affluent street just a block from the County Jail.
Sunday evening about 9 p.m. Richmond police were called to a home in the 90 block of Hillcrest to investigate a robbery. Richmond Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast said the victim was clearing off the porch and going in for the evening when he was approached by a man who said he had a gun and demanded his cash. The victim handed over his wallet and the suspect took the cash, threw the wallet on the ground and walked away.
The suspect was described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old about 5’8 to 5’10’ weighing 160 - 180 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt with back designs, jeans and had a white piece of fabric in his hand.
This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Richmond police department at 281-342-2849 or Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
