Missouri City police responded to a man down call in the 900 block of Derby Wednesday evening about 8 p.m. in the Hunter’s Glen neighborhood.
When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered Jarrett Harper, 35, dead in his front yard. He had been shot several times. Police have few details. Reportedly two black males in their early 20’s were seen leaving the area in a red 4-door Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix after Harper was shot. One of the two men was described as about 6’1” tall, 160 lbs, wearing a white shirt and blue shorts. The other man was between 5’10” and 6 foot, 150-160 pounds, wearing a red shirt and khaki pants.
Although police do not have anyone in custody, they believe that Harper may have been followed home from a Houston restaurant by his assailants.
Jarrett Harper was a star high school athlete and college football quarterback. After high school Harper played for the TSU Tigers. After college he began a career as a coach and teacher. Harper had recently returned to Missouri City to coach for TSU and further his education.
