STATE WIDE AWARD WINNING COLUMNIST

I am sick and tired of the federal government’s abuse of the constitution. Over half of the federal government’s budget is spent unconstitutionally. When will the American public wake up? We know Democrats will never wake up because they love the over reaching centralized government usurping our labor and redistributing it.

The federal government is not a good steward of our tax money. They do not spend our tax money responsibly on anything - nothing, nada, zilch. You cannot name one federal program that is not oozing with waste, fraud, abuse and just plain pork. Here is a novel idea – Congress shall not appropriate money for any purpose that does not affect, benefit or serve the entire country. Maybe that will limit and cut pork to benefit contributors.

We should be restricting the federal budget to no more than 10% of the current budget. Fiscal conservatives should demand that Congress cut their salary in half, only meet for three months every summer and only be entitled to Social Security. If they cannot live on that salary and retirement plan, then they ought to get a real job. These pinheads get paid $170,000 per year to do what? All they do is spend OUR money. They never make tough decisions or cut a budget. This is in addition to million dollar staff and office budgets. They do not even do what they are supposed to do.

The federal government is supposed to protect us against people like Bernard Madoff. We pay tax money to fund the Securities and Exchange Commission. Has anybody been fired at the SEC? Then, last week the New York Stock Exchange craters 1,000 points in 10 minutes.

Within an hour or two, news reports blamed it on a so-called bad trade. A trader supposedly entered the sale of $16 billion instead of $16 million of a DOW components stock. Within an hour of that report they were backpedaling on that explanation. The American public has still not been told what happened.

The federal government is supposed to protect our borders. Why can’t the most powerful military and country in the world protect our southern border and ACCOUNT for every human crossing our international border? They cannot even keep known international “suspects” off of a plane entering our airspace when they are on a no-fly list. Was anybody fired for the Christmas Day bomber getting on that airplane?

Social Security is a ponzi scheme. It is bankrupt and unsustainable as a financial investment. This scheme was made up to “cover” every taxpayer, not a safety net only for those in need. I heard it was devised that way just so it would pass constitutional muster. Some pundit recently pointed out that that is how the $2 trillion Obamacare Bill will overcome constitutional challenges.

Medicare is bankrupt and cannot continue to pay ever-increasing costs of medical coverage and ever increasing retirees that need the coverage. Obamacare is cutting $500 billion from Medicare to prolong it.

Next up, NASA. Do you remember the $500 toilet lid? Not the entire admittedly sophisticated toilet - just the lid. Yes -they have done a lot of good things that have led to many private enterprises - time for private companies to take over - entirely. The over-powerful centralized federal government is fat, bloated and filled with waste and NASA is not immune.

Probably the only federal program that is efficient is, much to my chagrin, the Internal Revenue Service. Isn’t it ironic that the bloated bureaucracy that is the federal government collects all that money with less than 15,000 employees? The only way that is accomplished is through voluntary compliance. What a bunch of sheeple.

Finally, there is the defense department. During a dinner around 12 years ago at the Naval base at Coronado California some Admiral was giving our newspaper association a speech and a run down on how many $1+ billion aircraft carriers we had stationed throughout the world. The U.S. had carriers and associated fleets throughout every hemisphere, I think more than one “assigned” to the Persian Gulf and always one in port. I think he said we had six and were in the process of building the seventh.

When the speech was over and he asked for questions, I very innocently asked how many we needed (in this day and age to keep us safe) and his answer was, well ‘seven’. I have forgotten the exact run down of our fleet totals but I will never forget that his answer was the number that we currently had and were building. Remember $1,200 hammers.

What makes our military the number one in the world are the commanders on the ground and the soldiers in the field - not the over bloated defense department budget.

The federal government is a fat, bloated queen termite devouring this country from the inside out and is destroying our children’s future.

It is time to stop the expansion of the federal government from its current expansion. Cut and or stop social security, cut Medicare and the military budget. These are the largest expenditures in the federal budget and these are the only places we can make any headway.

Why don’t we let cities and states decide how much they (with our tax money and blessing) want to spend on handouts, charity, Medicaid, etc. I think we can rely on our legislatures and city mayors to spend this money more responsibly.
