Obesity has become a growing epidemic throughout the United States, and Texas ranks 32nd with 50th being the worst. The George Foundation and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce invite you to attend our morning conference on the critical nation-wide topic, “Obesity – Stuck in the Middle: Programs and Policies to Improve Student Fitness” on Wednesday, March 30, from 7:30 am – 9:30 am at Safari Texas Ranch.
Through the Community Resource Division of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Children At Risk address issues that impact our children and their health. Educating the public is one of the first steps to eliminating childhood obesity in Fort Bend County. Our guest speaker is Dr. Steven Kelder, a dynamic presenter and Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Texas - School of Public Health, Austin Regional Campus.
Dr. Kelder’s passion lies in his recent publication on Stuck in the Middle where he reviewed the demographics of middle school students, middle school physical education programs, physical education professional guidelines, and physical education policies in the State of Texas.
Registration begins at 7:30 am and breakfast will be provided. The cost is $25 for members, $35 for non-members, and corporate tables are $300. Register online at www.FortBendChamber.com or call Shauna at 281.491.0277 or email Shauna@FortBendcc.org.
