Child Advocates of Fort Bend will kick off child abuse awareness activities with its annual Light of Hope Candle Lighting event to bring awareness to the hundreds of Fort Bend children who are abused and neglected every year.
The event will be held on the steps of Sugar Land City Hall at Town Square on Friday, March 25, at 6:00pm. The ceremony will feature various speakers and inspirational testimonies. It is presented by Whole Foods Market in conjunction with The Exchange Club of Sugar Land and Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend. Sugar Land Mayor Jimmy Thompson will be the ceremony emcee.
Singing some inspirational songs, local recording artist Debbie Fancher will sing again as she has at every Light of Hope Ceremony since 2005. Former Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace will sing with Debbie again and Allison Roorda will accompany both of them on keyboard.
As a special part of the ceremony there will be more than 350 local Girl Scouts who have all worked hard to make a square for the ever-expanding Blue Ribbon Quilt.
Please join us in taking a stand against child abuse.
