Work recently began on a 1.8-mile stretch of University Boulevard from Commonwealth Boulevard to Riverstone that will eventually connect U.S. Highway 59 to State Highway 6.
The $16 million project was funded through Fort Bend County mobility bonds and the City of Sugar Land’s capital improvement program. Completion is expected by spring 2013.
The regional roadway will include four lanes divided by a median with curbs and gutters. The project will also include the construction of three bridges and traffic signals at the intersections of University Boulevard at Commonwealth Boulevard and University Boulevard at Elkins Road.
