Sartaria Middle School Art Department has raised over $10,000 in the past 8 years with the sale of art and functional folk art. Mrs. Brenda Tomasello and Ms. Erica Hischke hunt for items that have the potential of being reworked by the student artists. The students turn cast away items into treasures.
In addition to the reworking talents, the students also become master braiders and weavers. The whimsical masterpieces – footstools - are constructed from mostly recycled items. The focus is on the value of recycling in a world of throw away items. Through these projects, the students use problem solving skills to rework and reuse: a valuable resource for the students to learn.
Also, this year you will have the opportunity to purchase one of a kind chess sets made from clay and one of a kind ceramic snack dishes.
This year, the proceeds from this event will be donated to Snowdrop Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to assisting patients and families at Texas Children’s Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
The 8th Annual Art Show - Art from the Heart Art Sale will last only one day, Saturday, March 26, Sugar Land Town Square, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The art show features handmade footstools, chess sets (made from clay) 2-3 water color paintings, and face painting.
