In an effort to curb gang activity in east Fort Bend County, Missouri City police, Sugar Land police, Precinct 1 Constable’s deputies, federal agents, as well as Fort Bend Sheriff’s deputies hit the streets several nights last week.
In this gang suppression initiative, law enforcement officers flooded the streets of the far east side of the county, specifically the Teal Run subdivision. Since the beginning of December law enforcement personnel have responded to dozens of drive by shootings and other criminal activity believed to have been perpetrated by gang members.
During their patrolling time in the neighborhoods, several gang members were identified and a couple of arrests were made. However, the officers were thanked profusely by the neighbors who were glad to see the intervention.
Officers report that on more than one occasion they stopped residents for minor traffic violations and were thanked for their presence and efforts in the neighborhood.
These initiatives are expected to continue wherever and whenever they are warranted according to law enforcement officials.
