Richard Raymond eerie resemblance to DA
I haven’t yet had the opportunity to go to a candidate forum, but I have seen photos of Richard Raymond, one of the candidates seeking to unseat incumbent District Attorney John Healey.
He won’t like it when this comes out, but Raymond looks like Healey. Seriously, he could pass for a brother, close cousin or a pretty good clone.
Now, Nina Schaefer doesn’t look like either one, so if you are voting like it sometimes appear a lot of folks do, then she is a safe bet for the job.
Local food drive
For the past week we have been inundated with pleas for help for the people in Haiti who are recovering from the devastating earthquake.
With all of the natural disasters hitting this country and beyond, we sometimes forget that there are families and individuals suffering right in our own back yard.
Luckily, Commissioner Grady Prestage is there to remind us that help is needed.
Grady is a champion of employees and citizens in the county. He is always looking out for the regular guy.
The items needed to help a family are so simple. A jar of peanut butter, a bag of rice, macaroni and cheese—can mean the difference between putting the kids to bed in tears or with a full tummy.
And by donating locally, you can see that the donations are really going where they are supposed to go and doing the job they are intended to do.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t help anyone we can afford to help, but we need to remember that a neighbor might be suffering silently and we could make a difference.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as giving to a real cause and knowing that the small (or large) donation is needed and appreciated
