Early Thursday morning, January 20, 2011, Richmond police were called to Mable Street to investigate a strong arm robbery. According to Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast, an 81 year old woman was robbed in her front yard as she arrived home from work.
Neinast said, “About 12:18 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 700 block of Mable, where an 81 year old female was robbed. The victim arrived home from her job shortly after midnight. During the initial investigation officers learned that the victim had pulled her car up near her home and was attacked as she walked from her car. As she approached her door, she was attacked from behind, pushing her to the ground, knocking off her glasses.
Neinast said that once the woman had been knocked to the ground, the suspect grabbed her purse and took off running. Because of the circumstances of the attack, the victim was unable to identify or describe her attacker. The victim in this case was not seriously injured.
With little to work from, Richmond police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the department at 281-342-2849 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
