May was a big month for the City of Meadows Place. “There’s usually not much to write about in our little city” said Charles Jessup, Mayor of Meadows Place. “but that wasn’t the case last month, and the best part is, that it was all good!” Meadows Place just signed an inter-local agreement with Fort Bend County to house a fully staffed, fully equipped Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in Meadows Place. This came after months of discussions, research and fact checking as Director of Fort Bend Health and Human Services, Dr. M. desVignes-Kendrick, MD, MPH and new Director of Fort Bend Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Graig Temple, sought to find the best overall EMS coverage solution for the county. Location, access to multiple major thoroughfares and an established working relationship with the Stafford Fire Department were a few of the factors that led to placing an ambulance in Meadows Place.
An excited Mayor Jessup exclaimed “This is fantastic news. Not many 1 square mile cities have their own Police Department, Fire Station and house an EMS crew too! May was very, very good to us. ”
If that were not enough, Meadows Place residents were also excited about the results of three separate polls. One listed Meadows Place the # 2 suburban area for Young Professionals to live, one stated they are one of the best places for people of Retirement Age and another showed them as one of the safest suburban areas in the Greater Houston Area.
The pollsters found “The small community of Meadows Place provides a quiet suburban oasis after a long day of work. Large single family homes with sizable backyards are common in Meadows Place.” In addition Meadows Place ranked high in median earning and in number of residents with professional occupations (over 50%). Other areas affecting rankings included location, ease of access to big city amenities, great parks and local fitness opportunities.
“As a city, we want and welcome Young Professionals because that’s how our town got started” said Jessup. He then invited everyone to “Come see us and you will soon know why we call Meadows Place – Your Place for Life!”
Overall, Fort Bend did very well in these same polls. The recent MOVOTO poll that Meadows Place ranked #2 of 22 great places for Young Professionals also included several other Fort Bend communities. Following Meadows Place – in order- were: Richmond; Alvin; Rosenberg; League City; South Houston; Spring; Webster; Friendswood; Humble; Atascocita; Manvel; Missouri City; Tomball; Pearland; Shenandoah; Oak Ridge North; Stafford; Sugar Land; The Woodlands and Katy.
