Shape up Sugar Land (SUSL) is a non-profit organization that promotes health and wellness in the greater Sugar Land area. Over the last four years SUSL has actively assisted
the city of Sugar Land in winning and retaining the “Fittest City” award in the State of Texas.
“Our mission is promote health and wellness year round”, reported Andy Stewart, vice president of SUSL and CEO of Finish Line Sports in Sugar Land. “By providing the Super Shaper Award quarterly we hope to positively influence the community and hold up these winners as Ambassadors
of health and fitness.”
Leroy Williams, a resident of Sugar Land, is the winner of the Super Shaper Award. Leroy was awarded the honor of being the very first Super Shaper because of his determination and successful completion of his goal to improve his personal health.
After an annual physical with Internal Medicine/Cardiologist Physician Doctor Matt C. Jacob, (Michael DeBakey team), revealed significant obesity and related health concerns, Leroy knew that he needed to take aggressive actions to reduce his weight.
Leroy immediately changed his eating habits and began exercising. He reduced his weight and began making “fit” choices for his life. There is no doubt that healthy eating habits along with daily exercise promotes wellness and can prevent or alleviate certain illnesses. Leroy
retired from the Federal government as a Budget & Financial Analyst on January 3, 2008, and plans to continue his healthy lifestyle.
He was presented with a $50 gift certificate to Finish Line Sports, a Personal training package by Margie Connolly, a Life Coaching session by Arnetta Yardbourgh, Yoga session by Charmaine van Niekerk, nutritional counseling by Patty Duhon, USANNA vitamins by Audrey Marnoy, a Fort
Bend Fit marathon training program by Head Coach Terrie Gorney, and a membership in Shape Up Sugar Land.
