Miss Jennifer Lynne Simon Weds Mr. John Malcolm Johnson, Jr.


Miss Jennifer Lynne Simon and Mr. John Malcolm Johnson, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend John Morfin. Music was provided by organist and vocalist, Mr. Christopher Popelka. Scripture readings were given by Ms. Becky Lawson, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Amy Chism, and Ms. Cindy Vega, friends of the bride. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Ashford Oaks with music provided by DJ’s Unlimited. On the eve of the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at Ninfa’s. The day before the wedding a bridal luncheon was held at Bristro Le Cep hosted by the bride’s mother.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Simon of Sugar Land, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Louise Simon and the late Mr. Leo Simon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Major (Ret.) and Mrs. James W. Abbett of Sugar Land, Texas. The groom is the son of Ms. Linda Parker of Vidor, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Johnson of Orangefield, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Eleanor Parker and the late Mr. Barry Parker of Vidor, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson of Orangefield, Texas.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant white satin strapless A-line gown with a sweep train. The gown was accented at the waist with a dark teal satin sash that cascaded from the back of the gown beyond the sweep train of the dress. To complement her gown, the bride chose a chapel length veil of silk illusion embellished with pearls. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white stargazer lilies, pastel pink and escimo roses.

Mrs. Shellie Ennis, sister of the bride, of Spring, Texas, and Mrs. Amanda Polk of Katy, Texas, served as Matrons of honor. Bridesmaids included Ms. Jamie Vanderweg, sister of the groom, and Ms. Angie Robinson both of Vidor, Texas.

Mr. Will Gifford and Mr. Ben Keller both of Vidor, Texas, served as Best Men. Groomsmen included Mr. Steven Cox of Lumberton, Texas, Mr. Jeff Robinson of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Mr. Quinton Fruge of Vidor, Texas. Mr. Gerald Ennis, brother-in-law of the bride, of Spring, Texas, and Mr. Brent Parker, cousin of the groom, of Houston, Texas, served as ushers. Master Justin Vanderweg, nephew of the groom, served as the ring bearer.

Jennifer is a graduate of Elkins High School and St. Mary’s University where she received a BBA degree in Marketing. She is employed by Marble Slab Creamery, Inc., as their Construction Manager. John graduated from Vidor High School and Apprenticeship School and is a Union Sheet Metal worker.

Following their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
