Mission Statement
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides
relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to
emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its Congressional
Charter and the principles of the International Red Cross Movement.
Additional Information
Our vision is to be the area's preeminent provider of disaster relief, emergency social
services and health and safety education throughout Ft. Bend, Wharton, and Colorado
Counties. Disaster planning and preparation are vital in Ft. Bend and Wharton Counties as
they are close to the Gulf Coast and the flood-prone areas of the Brazos and Colorado
Rivers. Our Transportation Services program for the elderly, indigent and disabled link
these people to vital medical and social services needs. Red Cross provides
communication
for our service families in our area to their family members in the military. We provide
emergency communications along with health & welfare inquiries. We provide a full
range of Health and Safety Courses such as CPR, First Aid, Water Safety and Babysitting to
the general public. We make these programs accessible by conducting them at community
centers and hospitals. As part of our Community Volunteer Services program, we work with
other community organizations and individuals to provide toys and food for children
during
the Holidays.
