“A Piece of Heaven,” an oil painting by Foster High School freshman Christy Beltz, went for a record bid of $190,000 at the 2010 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Auction. The auction took place Sunday (March 14) in Reliant Arena. Beltz’s painting earned the title of Grand Champion at the HLSR School Art Show, after earning top honors at Lamar CISD Art Show.
Five other Foster High School Students made the art auction:
“Shades of Mist,” a colored drawing by Christy Utech, earned $50,000 at the auction. Her work was the class champion; “Cowboy Whisperer,” by Morgan Mee, fetched $18,000 at the auction; “Running Free,” by Jennifer Eaves, brought $16,000; “Just a Couple of Studs,” by Breanne Carr, earned a winning bid of $10,000; and “Barnyard Buddies,” by Jose Galicia, was bought for $12,000.
