Residents of New Territory who have questions about how long the negotiations have been pending can verify with the city of Sugar Land that about a year ago T-Mobile sent the city a notice saying they were planning to put up a tower at a “Municipal Utility District maintenance area just below the Robinson’s Landing subdivision on the east side of Homeward Way”, Doug Adolph, spokesman for the city of Sugar Land, confirmed Monday.
Adolph said the city of Sugar Land does not have zoning control over this area nor does the city have building permits in areas such as this.
“It is our understanding that the property is owned by FBC MUD 112. Based on the height described in the attached email and general proximity to the airport, it would most likely trigger an FAA form 7460 (height clearance report), which many tower companies are familiar with,” Adolph said in response to an e-mail sent by this reporter on the issue.
Adolph said he is waiting for any feedback from the airport on what they think might be the repercussions, if any, on the plans to build the tower.
