County Clerk Dianne Wilson recently completed a five year projected titled “Fort Bend Co. Roster of Elected Officials 1838-2009” On January 26 at the regular meeting of Commissioner Court, she presented leather bound books to County Judge Bob Hebert; County Librarian Clara Russell, Fort Bend County Museum Director Candy Jones and Kendleton Historical Society member Marjorie Adams.
Wilson states “This roster of current and past Fort Bend County elected officials has taken me almost five years to complete, and is my personal expression of deep gratitude to those who provided and continue to provide government leadership excellence to our citizens. I trust the roster will provide historical information to current and future generations and, that someone will continue my efforts by creating a volume 2 of county elected officials.”
The research involved reading and deciphering countless handwritten records, which at times was extremely challenging and difficult. The historical data was found in Fort Bend, in Travis County, the Internet and speaking to family members of the former officials.
